Samburu is normally dry, but it had been raining the week before our visit
Pyramid Peak is one of the prominent local landmarks, here with a gerunuk in the foreground
The gold breasted starling with it's long blue tail is one of the more striking local birds
Weaver nests can be seen hanging from the branches of the trees everywhere
Mary's mountain seen in this panoramic shot is one of the more prominent land marks
black capped social weavers are responsible for many of the nests
But the white browed social weaver is also an active nest builder
The gerunuk is unusual for its willingness to stand on its hind legs while foraging from the bushes. They are not seen further south
