A trip to Whitehorse in the Yukon to go dog sledding at -15 to -20 F??
But can you imagine yourself out there on the sled in the wilderness?
Hey, they didn't tell me I'd have to fetch the dogs, harness the dogs, link up the dogs, and then undo it all plus feed them when I got back. Was it worth it?
The feral horses around seemed to take it all in stride
And the snowscapes along the river were phenomenal
The fog in the morning forms droplets on the branches that crystalize in the cold
The mist in the air led to beautiful sundogs
But there were beautiful sights in every direction
With a little imagination you can almost see the complete sunbow
The contrasts of the landscape lend themselves beautifully to black and white
The aurora borealis can be quite a sight to see
Sometimes appearing as a diffuse green cloud
An other times taking fantastic forms in the sky
Even when it seems faint the light just shines down on you
A real sense of paradise Oh except it was -20 F and 4 AM
But still what a wonder to behold
Up on the ridge looking aback down tow the lake and valley below
But of course the only real way to get there was by snowmobile
But the sights were fantastic everywhere we went
There are certain disadvantages to being out in the wildrenss
But everyone who went would tell you the dog sledding was exciting and the views were fantastic
Oh yeah, add the wind chill as the dogs run to that -15 F temp. This was just starting out. The beard got really frosty!!
